‘Why We Scrapped Use Of Scratch Cards’ – JAMB

The Registrar/Chief Executive of the Joint admissions and Matriculation, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede has announced the scrapping of scratch cards for any of its transactions and services. He described it as an archaic way of doing things.

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede also said the Federal Government must return to what was obtainable before where serving vice-chancellors of universities were made chairmen of the Governing Board of JAMB.

Dr. Fabian Benjamin, who happens to be the JAMB spokesperson issued the statement saying Oloyede made the declaration in Abuja in a paper he delivered during a meeting of the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities.

The JAMB registrar added that the examination would now be using the platform of pin vending to check all forms of fraudulent practices which was common with the use of scratch cards.

What was common back then was that there was an understanding that only serving vice-chancellors were made chairmen of Governing Board of JAMB.

While urging the government to go back to what was being practiced before, Oloyede submitted that since the agency was a creation of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian universities, it would only be right for them to be clearly be seen as important stakeholders to avoid any friction between tertiary institutions and JAMB.
