'She can go to a very dark place': Selena Gomez 'is in rehab in Tennessee' as she deals with 'anxiety and depression'

She announced August 30 she was canceling the remaining dates on her Revival tour to take time to focus on managing 'anxiety, panic attacks and depression.'

And on Wednesday, UsWeekly claimed that Selena Gomez, 24, is staying at a rehab facility just outside Nashville, Tennessee, where she is getting treatment.

'She can go to a very dark place,' a source told the magazine. 'This break is to focus on her mental health.'

The singer and actress suffers from lupus and previously went to rehab in 2014 after being diagnosed with the autoimmune disease.

UsWeekly reports that Selena has also stopped working in new music, with an insider explaining: 'She was supposed to be recording, but she hasn't told anyone when she'll be back in studio.'

The treatment facility she is at is described by a source as a 'private and quiet place' but also a 'super intense' one.

The Wizards Of Waverly Place alum was spotted just last week out with family members in Tennessee.

On October 8, Selena was spotted enjoying a meal with her mom and stepdad at a Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Alco, and the next day she joined her grandparents for breakfast at Riverstone Restaurant in Townsend.

Onlookers described the Hands To Myself hitmaker as appearing happy and relaxed and she also posed for photos with some of the staff and patrons. 

In a statement issued to People on August 30 announcing her withdrawal from social media and her scheduled concerts, Selena said: 'I've discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.'

'I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off, she continued. 'I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best.'
